Chairman Walker on President Trump's FY19 Budget

Feb 12, 2018
Press Release

Washington - Republican Study Committee Chairman Mark Walker released the following statement on the President’s Fiscal Year 2019 Budget:

“The annual deficit is expected to be over $1 trillion for the next fiscal year. With what is possibly our last chance as a Republican Congress to set ourselves on a fiscally responsible course, the House and Senate Budget Committees need to take President Trump’s proposal for over $1.7 trillion in mandatory spending reductions seriously. This means the House and Senate need to actually pass a concurrent budget resolution with mandatory saving targets and use reconciliation to reduce the deficit. Anything less is a failure in doing our duty to provide a framework that prevents America’s impending fiscal crisis.”
